Problematique:
How can UNWomen and the society in general, using social medias, promote gender equality?

I selected this project, because nowadays, the internet and social media became a significant part of education and of news circulation. Therefore those platforms are the best ways to raise awerness among the societies about gender equality.

Users:
Accordingly, even though this project can be easily used by everyone, the main users in our case would be teenagers, who start to discover themselves and start to understand the world. This project mainly targets young girls to make them understand that no matter what, they can achieve as much as boys.

Persona
Emma is a 14 years old Schoolgirl. She lives in the London's suburb with her parents and her big brother. Her dad his a corporate banker while her mum acts as a housewife, and her brother is currently studying economics at Kings college. She loves poneys and watching football. Her lifelong dream is to become a corporate woman and do the same job as her dad. But through her education, and the different she watched during her childhood, she is not sure anymore that working in corporate banking would suit her. Also, her mum has always wanted her to become a teacher or a nurse. Emma is not sure anymore she can achieve as much as her dad or her brother.

Key features:

- Provide confidence

Technical overview and added value thanks to APIs:
An API, or Application Programming Interfaces, is a software-to-software interface, not a user interface. It is very useful to automate workflows. For example, using an API with ZAPIER, we can connect two social media platforms and repost publications from one platform automatically to the other. This is exactly what we are going to do with the UN Women YouTube Channel. Indeed, we know that teenagers, boys and girls spend a significant amount of time on social medias (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube…). And more and more people use those platforms to read the news and learn new contents. Therefore, those platforms to raise awareness among teenagers and educate them about gender equality social. And, by using an API on the UN Women YouTube channel to connect it to every other website and social media accounts of the UN, we would maximise the visibility of UN Women content. The ideas of gender equality will therefore spread more easily.
